Six years after the Air India Express crash at Kozhikode, UK aviation experts have issued a joint statement calling for renewed transparency in the investigation, citing six unresolved questions. The accident, which killed 21 people and injured 167 others on 7 August 2020, involved a Boeing 737-800 that skidded off the tabletop runway in heavy rain. The questions relate to cockpit resource management, pilot training, runway condition assessments, and the adequacy of the investigation itself.
Experts from the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators argue that without full disclosure, safety improvements may remain incomplete. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation in India has not yet responded to the demand.
