A suspected gang leader was gunned down in a brazen floral ambush at a major airport this morning, sources confirm. The victim, a 45-year-old man with links to organised crime, was intercepted by two assailants posing as delivery drivers as he exited the arrivals terminal. The killers handed over a bouquet of lilies before opening fire with suppressed handguns.
He was struck multiple times and died at the scene. The assailants fled on foot into a waiting vehicle, abandoning the flowers. Police have cordoned off the area and are reviewing CCTV.
The victim had been under surveillance by the National Crime Agency for alleged drug trafficking and money laundering. A source said: 'This was a professional hit. They knew his schedule and his weakness for grand gestures.
' No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
