Sources confirm the FBI has dismantled a chilling conspiracy to assassinate the US President using a sniper rifle mounted on a commercial drone. The plot, targeting the White House grounds, was uncovered during a joint operation between the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Secret Service. Two suspects, both US nationals with military backgrounds, were arrested in a pre-dawn raid in Virginia.
They are believed to have acquired a modified DJI Matrice 600 drone capable of carrying a custom-fitted sniper rifle. Documents obtained by this reporter show the suspects had conducted reconnaissance flights over the National Mall as recently as last week. The FBI is tight-lipped on the exact timeline, but sources say the threat was “imminent and credible”.
The drone-sniper concept is a game-changer in security circles. It uses stabilisation software to offset recoil and GPS to lock onto a target. The UK’s counter-terrorism command has been put on high alert.
MI5 and the Metropolitan Police are reviewing security at Downing Street and the Palace of Westminster. A Whitehall source told me: “We are not taking any chances. This is the kind of attack we have feared for years.
” The suspects are due in federal court tomorrow. Charges include conspiracy to commit murder and possession of an unregistered firearm. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities probing possible links to extremist networks.
For now, the drone-sniper threat has moved from science fiction to a stark reality.
