Pakistan has launched a series of deadly air strikes inside Afghanistan, killing at least 46 people, according to Afghan officials. The raids targeted villages in the border province of Khost, a region long suspected of harbouring militants. The strikes come after a suicide bombing in Pakistan’s Bannu district killed 13 soldiers last week, an attack blamed on the Taliban.
Britain has called for an immediate ceasefire, with the Foreign Office issuing a statement expressing deep concern over the escalation. “We urge restraint and a return to dialogue,” a spokesperson said, adding that civilian casualties were unacceptable. The strikes threaten to unravel fragile peace efforts in the region.
For millions of working families already struggling with high food and energy prices, another war is a disaster they cannot afford. The real economy of the North relies on stability. War raises costs.
Peace pays the bills.
