A British man has died after a paragliding accident in Spain, triggering an investigation by consular authorities. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the Sierra de Gredos mountain range, central Spain, where the experienced paraglider, in his 50s, suffered fatal injuries after his equipment malfunctioned mid-flight. Emergency services were called to the scene but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Foreign Office confirmed it is supporting the family and liaising with Spanish authorities. The Guardia Civil has launched an inquiry into the circumstances of the crash. Paragliding is a popular sport in the region but accidents, though rare, often result in serious injury or death due to the high altitudes and unpredictable winds.
