British authorities have dismantled a sophisticated fraud ring that used fake ticket sales for the K-pop group BTS to defraud fans of more than £2m. The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau, which led the investigation, said the operation targeted young, devoted fans willing to pay inflated prices for sold-out concerts. The scam offered fake tickets through social media and unofficial resale sites, often using convincing payment portals.
Victims reported losses averaging £500 each. The bureau warned that similar schemes are likely to emerge ahead of major events, urging buyers to verify sellers and use official platforms. The ringleaders, believed to be based overseas, are being pursued through international cooperation.
