Celine Dion has paid tribute to Peabo Bryson, the Grammy-winning singer known for the duet “Beauty and the Beast”, after his death at the age of 73. Bryson’s family confirmed he passed away peacefully at his home in Atlanta on Tuesday following a short illness. Dion, who recorded the iconic Disney theme with Bryson in 1991, said she was “heartbroken” by the loss.
“His voice was a gift that touched millions,” she said in a statement. “I will treasure the memories of our time in the studio together.” Bryson’s career spanned five decades, earning him two Grammys and a place in the hearts of fans worldwide.
Beyond the Disney hit, he scored soul classics like “If Ever You’re in My Arms Again” and “Can You Stop the Rain”. Tributes have poured in from across the music industry, with Dion also praising his mentorship of younger artists. “Peabo showed us all how to blend passion with grace,” she said.
