A dead whale has been towed to a Danish beach today, drawing marine biologists from the United Kingdom to the scene. The carcass, believed to be a minke whale, was discovered floating off the coast of Jutland earlier this week. Danish authorities brought the animal to shore for examination, as UK experts from the Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme joined the investigation.
The cause of death remains unknown, but initial reports suggest possible ship strike or entanglement. The whale's stomach contents will be analysed for plastic pollution, a growing concern for North Sea wildlife. This incident highlights the broader crisis facing marine life in increasingly industrialised waters, where fishing gear and vessel traffic pose daily threats.
