Civilians in a Romanian city are living in fear after a series of drone attacks struck residential areas, leaving residents traumatised and demanding immediate protection. The strikes, which occurred overnight, targeted infrastructure but also damaged homes, causing panic and displacement. Local authorities confirmed no casualties, but the psychological impact has been severe.
‘No one feels safe now. It could happen again at any moment,’ said a resident. The attacks come amid heightened tensions linked to the conflict in neighbouring Ukraine.
Romanian defence officials have deployed additional air defence systems and are coordinating with NATO allies. The incident underscores the vulnerability of civilian populations to modern warfare and raises questions about the adequacy of current security measures. Bucharest has condemned the attacks as a violation of sovereignty and international law, calling for an urgent investigation.
