The delays in evacuating critically wounded civilians from Gaza have been branded ‘unacceptable’ by the British government, which is now demanding an immediate medical corridor. This is not a humanitarian gesture. It is a strategic pivot.
The failure to establish a safe passage for casualties creates a threat vector that hostile actors can exploit. Every hour of delay erodes operational security and fuels propaganda narratives. The logistics of a medical corridor are straightforward: a deconfliction line, protected transport, and a neutral staging area.
That this has not been achieved signals either a lack of will or a deliberate obstruction. If the latter, it is an intelligence failure of the highest order. Britain must now apply maximum diplomatic pressure to force compliance, or risk being seen as complicit in a humanitarian crisis that will destabilise the entire region.
