An investigation is under way in Brazil after a woman died during a rope-jumping activity, with initial reports pointing to instructor error. The incident occurred on Saturday at a leisure facility in the state of Minas Gerais. The victim, identified as 34-year-old Mariana Silva, was participating in a controlled descent from a 30-metre platform when the safety rope failed to arrest her fall.
Emergency services pronounced her dead at the scene. Local authorities have suspended the activity pending a full safety review. The facility's management has not commented.
The case has reignited debate over regulatory oversight of adventure sports in Brazil, where safety standards are often voluntary.
