The Kremlin’s sustained aerial bombardment of Kyiv has been universally condemned after 13 civilians were killed in what officials describe as the largest single assault on the Ukrainian capital since the war began. The attack, which involved drones and cruise missiles, struck residential districts and critical infrastructure, leaving a trail of destruction across the city. International observers have noted a deliberate escalation in Russia’s campaign against urban centres, with the targeting of civilian areas drawing sharp rebukes from Western leaders.
The United Nations Security Council is expected to convene an emergency session, while the EU has promised additional sanctions. The attack underscores Moscow’s strategy of destabilising Ukraine’s democratic institutions through terror, a tactic that has failed to break the country’s resolve but has deepened humanitarian suffering.
