The man accused of a deadly shooting spree at Bondi Beach last month faced a Sydney court this morning where prosecutors laid 19 new charges, including nine counts of attempted murder. The suspect, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared via video link from a high-security prison. The new charges relate to a separate incident believed to have occurred hours before the main attack.
Police allege the gunman opened fire on a group of teenagers at a beachside carpark, wounding three. The discovery of a second crime scene has deepened the mystery surrounding the assailant's motives. The court heard that forensic teams have linked the same weapon to both attacks.
The defendant did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody. The case was adjourned to next month. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.
