The Enhanced Games, the controversial sporting event that allowed performance-enhancing drugs, ended with a single world record. It will not stand. UK Athletics and the British Olympic Association have condemned the event, calling it a danger to clean sport.
The record, set in the men's 100 metres by an American sprinter, was achieved under the influence of banned substances. The governing bodies issued a joint statement saying the mark would not be ratified. The athlete cannot compete in any future IAAF-sanctioned events.
The Enhanced Games founder claims this is a 'victory for scientific progress.' But the message from Whitehall is clear: the sport's integrity must be protected.
