Russian forces are advancing on a key city in the Donbas region, raising fears of a new front in the conflict, British intelligence has warned. The city, identified as Pokrovsk, has been under increasing pressure in recent days as Moscow shifts its focus to the eastern front. According to the UK Ministry of Defence, Russian troops have made tactical gains near the settlement, exploiting a gap in Ukrainian defences.
The warning comes as Kyiv grapples with a shortage of ammunition and manpower, compounded by delays in Western aid. The situation remains fluid, with Ukrainian forces reportedly withdrawing to more defensible positions. The development underscores the fragility of the front line and the Kremlin's determination to secure the Donbas before any potential peace talks.
