Hollywood marked the 100th birthday of Marilyn Monroe on Sunday with a gathering of women dressed as the iconic actress. The event, organised by a local fan club, saw dozens of lookalikes pose for photographs outside the Chinese Theatre, where Monroe left her handprints in 1953. Participants wore white halter dresses, platinum wigs, and red lipstick in imitation of Monroe’s signature style from the 1955 film “The Seven Year Itch”.
Monroe, who died in 1962 at the age of 36, remains a global symbol of glamour and tragedy. The tribute comes amid renewed interest in her legacy, with a recent documentary exploring her relationship with the Kennedy family. Organisers said the event was intended as a celebration of her enduring cultural impact rather than a sombre remembrance.
Police estimated the crowd at 200 people. No disturbances were reported.
