Hollywood Boulevard was painted platinum blonde yesterday as dozens of Marilyn Monroe impersonators gathered to mark what would have been the star’s 100th birthday. The event, organised by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, saw lookalikes parade from the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre to the star’s Walk of Fame monument, where a wreath was laid. Among the crowd were fans wearing replica white halter dresses from *The Seven Year Itch* and vintage 1950s attire.
The tribute included a screening of Monroe’s *Gentlemen Prefer Blondes* at the Egyptian Theatre, followed by a panel discussion featuring biographers and costume experts who explored her enduring legacy. ‘She was a pioneer who broke the mold, and her image still resonates today,’ said co-organiser Linda Edwards. The event also highlighted Monroe’s struggles with the studio system, drawing parallels to modern conversations around mental health and celebrity culture.
