A Sherpa guide who went missing on Mount Everest has walked back into base camp alive, sources confirm. The guide, identified as Nima Tenji, was presumed dead after a fall into a crevasse near the Hillary Step. British climbers had given up hope, but Tenji survived three days without supplies.
Expedition leader Martin Bell said: 'It is a miracle. He clawed out using his bare hands.' Tenji sustained frostbite but is recovering.
Mountaineering officials are investigating the incident. Climbers hail the survival as remarkable, but questions remain over safety protocols. The government has been urged to improve rescue systems for high-altitude accidents.
