The Crown Princess of Norway, Mette-Marit, has been placed on a lung transplant list after her chronic lung condition, pulmonary fibrosis, worsened in recent months. The Norwegian Royal Palace announced the decision on Tuesday, citing the progression of the disease which has limited her daily activities. Buckingham Palace swiftly offered support, with King Charles III sending a personal message to King Harald V of Norway.
The solidarity reflects the close ties between the two royal families, though the palace declined to elaborate on the nature of the support. Mette-Marit, 50, has been open about her health struggles since her diagnosis in 2018, using her platform to raise awareness about the illness.
