Pakistan has conducted a series of air strikes inside Afghanistan, killing at least 46 people, according to Afghan officials. The strikes, which targeted areas in Khost and Kunar provinces, are reported to have been aimed at militant hideouts used by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan. The British government has expressed serious concern, warning that the escalation threatens regional stability and undermines counter-terrorism efforts.
The operation marks a significant intensification of cross-border military action by Islamabad. Pakistani authorities have not officially commented, but security sources indicate the strikes were a response to recent attacks on Pakistani soil. Afghan officials condemned the strikes as a violation of sovereignty.
The UK Foreign Office issued a statement urging restraint and dialogue, emphasising that such actions could further destabilise an already volatile region.
