At least 200 people have been arrested and 35 police officers injured in violent clashes that erupted in central Paris following the Champions League final. The disturbances, which began shortly after the match concluded at the Stade de France, saw masked groups of youths setting fire to vehicles, looting shops, and throwing projectiles at security forces. Riot police deployed tear gas and water cannon to disperse crowds on the Champs-Élysées and surrounding streets.
French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin described the scenes as 'unacceptable' and attributed the violence to organised hooligans exploiting the event. Investigations are ongoing into the specific groups involved. The match itself passed without incident, but the aftermath has raised fresh concerns about security protocols for major sporting events in the capital.
