The first images from the scene of a private jet crash in the English countryside show ordinary people tearing at twisted metal to free trapped survivors. Six people were on board the luxury aircraft, which came down in a field near Market Harborough this morning. Four survivors were pulled from the wreckage by locals who rushed to help before emergency services arrived.
Two others are confirmed dead. The Civil Aviation Authority has announced an immediate safety review of private aviation licenses and maintenance records. For families in the nearby village, the crash landed in their back gardens.
For the rest of us, it lands in a cost of living crisis where such wealth flies overhead while unions fight for basic rights. This is not just a tragedy of the rich. It is a reminder that when disaster strikes, it is working class hands that pull people out.
The government has promised answers. The people of Leicestershire have already given their help.
