In the wake of a devastating 7.3 magnitude earthquake that has levelled parts of Caracas and left thousands feared trapped under rubble, a team of British engineers has deployed cutting-edge drone technology to assist in search and rescue operations. The drones, equipped with ground-penetrating radar and AI-powered thermal imaging, are being used to detect survivors where traditional methods have failed.
Dr Julian Vane, a former Silicon Valley technologist now leading the UK's humanitarian tech response, described the mission as a race against biological time. 'We have roughly 72 hours before the window of survival closes. These drones are not just tools; they are lifelines.

However, Vane warned of the ethical tightrope they walk. 'We are literally playing god with machine learning. The same AI that finds a child in the rubble could be used to deny insurance claims or monitor protests.
