The National Park Service has confirmed an act of vandalism at the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Law enforcement officials are investigating the incident, which resulted in damage to the pool’s lining.
No arrests have been made. The pool has been drained for emergency repairs. In a separate but related advisory, the UK’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport stated that British heritage sites, including the Serpentine and St James’s Park lakes, remain fully secure.
The assessment underscores a divergence in the immediate threat posture between the two nations. The National Park Service has not disclosed the nature of the vandalism or any broader motive.
