A shooting in the Spanish city of Algeciras has left two people dead and several others wounded, including two infants. Police have launched a terror investigation. The attack unfolded in the La Bajadilla neighbourhood, near a local church, where a gunman opened fire before being subdued by officers.
Witnesses described scenes of panic as families scattered. The injured infants, both under two years of age, are receiving treatment for non-life-threatening wounds. Authorities have not released the identity of the shooter, but sources confirm he was known to intelligence services.
Spain remains on high alert following a series of extremist incidents. The motive is believed to be jihadist terrorism, though investigations are ongoing.
