Three British firefighters are missing and feared dead after a wildfire that has been raging across the Colorado-Utah border intensified unexpectedly. The firefighters, part of an international exchange programme, were deployed to assist local crews in containing the blaze, which has now scorched over 120,000 acres. The UK government has confirmed that a specialist crew of 30 firefighters from the National Fire Chiefs Council will be dispatched to support the operation.
The Foreign Office is working with US authorities to locate the missing personnel. The incident marks one of the deadliest for British firefighters on foreign soil in recent decades, raising questions about the risks of such exchanges and the adequacy of safety protocols.
