Sources confirm that on Monday, Trump issued an executive directive demanding immediate repair of the pool, which has been overtaken by a stubborn algae bloom. The pool, a centrepiece of Washington’s memorial landscape, has been closed for weeks as the National Park Service struggled to contain the outbreak.
Trump, reportedly furious that the pool looked “disgusting” during his recent visits, ordered the Army Corps of Engineers to step in. “He wants it fixed now. No more delays,” a White House aide said.
