The British government has called for restraint after Ukraine was accused of killing four people in a strike in occupied Crimea. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, reportedly involved a Ukrainian drone attack on a military facility near Sevastopol. Moscow blamed Kyiv for the deaths, while Ukrainian officials have not commented.
London, in a measured response, stressed the need to avoid escalation. A Foreign Office spokesperson said: "We are aware of the reports and urge all sides to exercise restraint to prevent further civilian casualties."
The statement stopped short of condemning Ukraine, reflecting a cautious position that seeks to balance support for Kyiv with the imperative of limiting the conflict's spread. The attack comes as Western allies continue to supply arms to Ukraine, raising questions about the rules of engagement in occupied territories.
