A British tourist has died after a paragliding accident in Spain, according to local authorities. The man, in his 30s, was found unresponsive near the town of Algodonales in southern Spain on Thursday afternoon. Emergency services attempted resuscitation but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Foreign Office has issued a safety warning for holidaymakers engaging in adventure sports abroad. Sources confirm the victim was an experienced paraglider, but strong winds are believed to have caused the crash. This is the third British tourist death from paragliding in Spain this year.
The family has been informed and consular support is being provided. Uncovered documents from the Spanish aviation authority show a 40% increase in paragliding incidents in the region over the past five years, with many linked to unregulated operators. The Foreign Office urges holidaymakers to check insurance coverage and qualifications of instructors before participating in high-risk activities.
