Sources confirm that a highly intelligent bear is on the loose in northern Japan after injuring four people in a series of attacks over the past 48 hours. The bear, described by wildlife officials as 'extremely intelligent,' has evaded capture by avoiding traps and changing its behaviour patterns. It has been spotted near the town of Takikawa on Hokkaido island, where it broke into a grocery store and knocked over a security guard before retreating into the forest.
Local authorities have issued an emergency alert, urging residents to remain indoors. Wildlife experts are baffled by the bear's behaviour: it has been observed using its paws to open doors and disabling motion-sensor lights. 'This is unprecedented,' said Dr. Yuki Tanaka, a bear specialist at Hokkaido University. 'It's as if the bear is learning from its experiences.'
Officials have set up bait traps and deployed drones, but the bear continues to elude them. The injured victims are in stable condition. The bear's origins are unclear but it is believed to be a young male that may have been driven out of its territory by older bears or habitat loss.
The hunt for the bear has drawn international attention. Some residents are frightened, while others are amused by the bear's cunning. 'It's like something out of a movie,' said local farmer Kenji Sato. 'But it's deadly serious. We need to catch it before someone dies.'
