The US Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) has released a long-awaited report on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), detailing encounters with objects described as “orbs swarming in all directions” by military personnel. The report, mandated by Congress, documents 144 cases between 2004 and 2021, with 80 involving multiple sensors. It finds no evidence of extraterrestrial origin but stops short of ruling it out.
British defence analysts have called for data sharing with the UK’s newly established UAP taskforce, which operates under the Ministry of Defence. Dr. Emma Langham, a former MOD analyst, stated that “without access to US radar and satellite data, our own investigations are severely limited.” The report highlights that most UAPs remain unexplained, though some are attributed to advanced Chinese or Russian drone technology. The Pentagon has declined to comment on specific cases, citing operational security.
Downing Street has indicated it is seeking briefings from Washington. “This is a matter of national security and public interest. We must ensure that our allies share information to maintain the integrity of our airspace,” a spokesman said. The report marks a shift in US policy towards greater transparency, but raises new questions about the nature of these encounters. Analysts note that the term ‘swarming’ suggests a level of coordination that challenges current defence assumptions.
