Director Wim Wenders has withdrawn his 1975 film 'The Wrong Move' from circulation, citing regret over a scene featuring a topless teenage actress. The German filmmaker, 78, said the decision came after re-evaluating the work in light of modern attitudes towards consent and the sexualisation of minors. The film, part of his early canon, starred a 15-year-old actress in a brief nude sequence.
Wenders called the scene a 'mistake' that no longer reflects his values. The move has reignited debate over historical content and the responsibility of artists to reckon with their past. The film will be unavailable for streaming, screenings, or re-release, though Wenders said he hopes it can be restored in a future, edited version.
The actress involved has not commented.
