A suspected senior gang figure was shot dead at a London airport yesterday in an attack that has prompted an urgent review of border security procedures. The victim, identified by sources as a 42-year-old man believed to be a leading organiser of cross-border drug trafficking, was ambushed as he collected flowers from a delivery van outside the arrivals terminal. Two assailants fled the scene in a black saloon car, later abandoned and burned out in a nearby residential area.
The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation, while the Home Office confirmed it is reassessing protocols for armed response at transport hubs. No arrests have been made. The incident raises questions about the vulnerability of airport perimeters and the effectiveness of current counter-gang strategies.
